Our Founder

Janice A. Black, Ed. Sp., PhD

Dr. Black is passionate about school reform that results in students prepared for
  • advanced placement or dual enrollment in high school,
  • excellence in college and
  • success as an entrepreneur or professional.

Having an innate sense of curiosity is important to guide one's focus. Being a good scholar who is humble and helps others is also important. Having the courage to investigate critical areas and the strength to do what is right is key. Finally, plain hard work and persistence is critical to both excellence and luck!

Dr. Black's goal for this school is to find the right set of faculty and administrators to fan the spark that has begun into a flame that warms the heart of our local community and develops children in all five areas of their lives.  Strong high school students, strong college students and strong entrepreneurs/professionals are the targeted outcomes of the school!

Dr. B's passion is supporting the larger social good by starting non-profits to meet these goals. She does this pro bono (i.e. via volunteering her time and effort). While she personally has started 4 non-profit schools, she does not do this alone. As the school moves towards the reality of opening its doors this fall, she is actively seeking a managing headmaster who will be the principal and lead teacher for the school.

During the rest of the year, she is an active college professor in Entrepreneurship  and strategy. She continues her interest in education with higher education pedagogical research too. Her scholarly publications have received over 1700 citations when the average professor rarely reaches 50 citations.
