Tonya Bellamy, M. Ed.

Meet our Head & Master Teacher

Picture
Welcome to current and future Renaissance Prep families, my name is Tonya Bellamy.
I am thrilled to join the staff at Renaissance Preparatory Academy as the headmaster. My personal and professional philosophies align perfectly with those of Renaissance Preparatory Academy in that I, too, believe that academic programs should be designed to develop well-rounded academically-strong, curious, courteous, courageous learners ready for success in high school, university and life. As the headmaster, I will work diligently to ensure that I, as well as other staff, will strongly adhere to our mission.

I have a solid background that, I believe, has provided me with the tools needed to be very successful in this role. Before going back to school to earn my M.Ed. degree, I ran my own business for over a decade, so I have entrepreneurial experience along with the skills needed to be successful in business. I was very fortunate to be offered the position of Exceptional Education Coordinator immediately upon completion of graduate school. I was in that position for four years before choosing to move back home to South Carolina. The experience in that role provided me with the leadership, interpersonal, and administrative skills needed to be successful in my current position. Programs I coordinated and directed included special education, gifted, and English as a second or foreign language, so I have vast knowledge of all types of learning styles and aptitudes and the ability provide leadership in multiple learning cultures. I have also been granted certification as a teacher in both Florida and South Carolina. In addition to those, I have been certified in Professional Crisis Management and CPR.

I look forward to being an integral part of the this journey as the school grows and we implement, in addition to our core year-round RPA Scholars program, several compelling new programs, such as RPA Academics, RPA Advancement and RPA Campers.
I am here to answer any and all questions you have regarding our programs. I look forward to your calls. I am available by appointment to give tours of our campus. We welcome the opportunity to provide your child/children with the tools necessary to be successful in life.
Sincerely,
Tonya Bellamy, M.Ed.                                                                               Headmaster

Note from Janice Black, Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors
We are so proud that Tonya Bellamy has agreed to be our headmaster. Her strengths enable her to teach at all levels in our school but beyond that she has experience growing programs and enhancing educational cultures. She is the best choice to build from the strong foundation laid by Jennifer Delaney. She is just the right person to help us forge ahead with a new facility and several new programs post-Covid-19 health scare!
