I drive by the Glenns Bay Overpass on Hwy 17 Bypass as I go to and from The Renaissance Preparatory Academy. I was struct the other day by the amount of foundation work has been done. Yes,

Yes, we all grip and complain because the time spent in snarled traffic, but the road construction team has methodically been building the foundation up and we are now at the point of having the highway overpass supports being poured. This seems a great metaphor for the school. For strong college students and future entrepreneurs, we need strong foundations. As a math teacher commented to me just the other day in line at the store (and please forgive the paraphrase, but I don’t routinely record my conversations), “The problem with fractions in upper grades isn’t really a problem with fractions, it is a problem with understanding place value from 1st grade. Many of our math programs are, “they don’t get it not, don’t worry they’ll see again. Pass them on.” You don't just pass on the highway construction issues. You place and test each part to be sure that is is correctly done before moving on. That supports why at the Renaissance Preparatory Academy we put into place a practical competence test.

Yes, you have the learning, but then you have to demonstrate that you know how to USE THAT LEARNING before you can get promoted ot the next concept, book, or grade! It is not too late to get that foundation built in your child’s life, check out the GREAT promotional coupon on the schools home page… Just $50 and the security deposit and August is free! Well, you still need to get the uniforms but French Toast isn’t that expensive!
