If you didn’t have a chance to swing by the open house on Thursday, take a minute and meet the start of our set of teachers and staff! These folks and other volunteers have been actively working hard to transform the classrooms into those ready for our school. I am very happy to welcome and introduce you to two of our new team members; Cheryl Cottingham and Margaret Donahoo. UPDATE: Unfortunately, Cheryl chose to go to a school that had higher salaries and benefits than what we could provide during this start up year. We are sad but have other great people lined up who believe in our vision and who can join us in this developmental process. Meet Cheryl Cottingham. Miss Cheryl is originally from the Columbia, SC area and is currently living in Cherry Grove with her high school aged daughter. She is passionate about teaching children to read and looking forward to meeting her Kindergarten and first grade students for this next school year. Her Preprimary classroom is taking shape and reflecting the flexible seating and centers approach that will support our educational philosophy. In addition to her early childhood education teaching credential, she is certified in a number of natural science areas. Her first degree was in art so expect a well-rounded experience in the Preprimary class! Meet Margaret Donahoo. Miss Margaret is originally from San Rafael, California which is a town north of San Francisco, California. She retired from the public education arena where she spent many years as a receptionist and administrative assistant several years ago. She took on being the receptionist and back stage aide for a ballet school for about 5 years. She has since moved to the Grand Strand and is thrilled to be the admissions/attendance/receptionist/teachers aide for the school! She has helped set up the Primary classroom and, perhaps, even more importantly volunteered to paint our new picnic tables bright blue to match our playground!
The next general opportunity for checking out the school will be Tuesday July 11 from 5 to 7 as we celebrate the delivery of our new picnic tables and have a chance to take a closer look at the playground and athletic fields… and perhaps meet some more of the teaching staff!

Thank you for introducing all these teachers to us! I know that they are fit to work at Renaissance Preparatory Academy since their credentials are no joke! I would love to know all teachers you have there, but knowing these newly hired professors gave me a view that all teachers you have are all competent. Miss Margaret Donahoo looks amazing! If she will become my teacher, I think it will be cool! I will learn a lot from her!
